Designed a retail space to reflect the LOHAS philosophy (Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability), centering the design around reuse, natural materials, and mindful choices. Many of the display fixtures were custom-fabricated using salvaged factory parts, including carts, corrugated panels, and metal frames, among other components. Wood was sourced from renewable materials when reclaimed lumber was not available. Additional surfaces and finishes included tempered glass, raw steel, and corrugated sheet metal to support both durability and an industrial-modern character.
The pendant lights above the cashwrap were created from recycled glass bottles, reinforcing the project's material ethic in even the smallest details. A shelving system made from aluminum tree ladders and plywood added both structure and story to the space, visually tying the merchandise displays to the LOHAS commitment to resourcefulness and sustainability. The overall design blended the principles of wellness and eco-conscious living with a fresh, modern retail experience, echoing the visual sensibility of boutique retail destinations like Abbot Kinney in Venice, California.
